Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Car title in one name, payments in another name

I used my name to purchase a vehicle for a friend because my credit was better at the time. Friend has been making all of the payments. Friend is not a friend anymore, and need to know how to either get vehicle back or name on note transferred to this other friend. I have no doubt that they will continue to make payments but since note is in my name and they have the vehicle, just want to protect myself. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am wondering what legal grounds and possibilities I have.

Since the friend has been making the payments, you would have no legal right to the vehicle. If the friend doesn't want to transfer the paper work on the purchase, you're caught between a rock and a hard spot. If you tell the finance co. the truth, you confess to fraud. If you don't tell them, you remain on the hook for whatever the consequences.
