Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Co-Signed on Family Member loan

I co-signed a student loan on my step-brother and am having serious problems getting him to pay. He has made on payment since 12/01....I made a $469 2 months ago, spoke with him and he swore he would keep it up to date. As of today he has not made the last 2 payments and it is currently past due $221. This is all ruining my credit and I cannot afford to pay it off ($7900). Do I have any legal recourse? Can I go to court to garnish wages or sue him?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Co-Signed on Family Member loan

You could sue him, although that wouldn't necessarily collect the money for you. If he is in Texas, you can't garnish his wages for payment of a debt.
