Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
my father just recently passed away and left behind a ton of debt. about 40 thousand on credit cards that wereonly in his name and some loans that were in his name. i understand that my mother is responsible with anything that has her name but is she responsible for the other debt? she does reside in texas which i know is a community state. what happens to the debt and can her house get taken away? my father does not own anything under his name soley.

Your mother is not responsible for his debts and her home is not in danger as it is exempt from most debts .other than property taxes/ home improvement loans....and IRS if any..but such debts are not collectable generally..
