Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Judgement

I have a judgement against me. What can they legally seize? If I put everything in just my husband's name, will that protect us?

Re: Judgement

Under the Texas Property Code, a good portion of your personal property and your home are usually considered "exempt", and therefore cannot be seized to satisfy a judgment.

The list of specific exempt property is somewhat long to list here, so I would suggest looking up Chapters 41 and 42 of the Texas Property Code (just go to google.com and look up "Texas Property Code" - it's the first link).

If you still need assistance after that, you may be best served by consulting with an attorney.
