Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
afraid of Federal Indictment
My apt was raided by a local task force. My charges are fraudulant use/ poss of identifying info, man/del of cs over 4 under 200grams, and poss marij under 2. I know there was at least 1 c.i. but, don't know how deep that went. My lawyer told me to expect a federal indictment w/ mandatory 10yr min sent. I never used any of the credit cards & had less than 5grams! Am I going to prison on my 1st offense??

Re: afraid of Federal Indictment
Maybe. Your lawyer is your best ally - and you should be directing these concerns to him/her. Not all first offenses result in probation, especially under federal sentencing guidelines. Your attorney may be able to negotiate a federal agreement to avoid prosecution, if the prosecutor is satified with the state punishment.
