Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Harassment Charge

A friend of mine is currently serving time in a County jail. He has a warrant for a Harassment charge with a $15,000 bond. This charge also includes a missed court date for a child support hearing (which from what I understand is why the bond is higher than normal).

What can he or myself do to have this bond reduced?

Is this something that only a attorney can do?

Thank You

Re: Harassment Charge

A person always has the right to represent himself. Although it is difficult to be in jail, with the multiple issues facing him, he is better off spending the limited funds he has on an attorney.

He should at least seek a court-appointed attorney. The child support issue could possibly require either $ or jail time to resolve.

Also, some judges will not appoint an attorney if the defendant can afford to post bond.
