Son charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

My son was arrested for Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. My son and his girlfriend were outside arguing because my son had been gone all weekend and spent all their bill and grocery money. My son's girlfriend was angry and was going to take my son's unloaded gun to the pawn shop, so she put the gun into her car. During the argument my son was begging his girlfriend not to leave. And he was telling her that he did not want her to pawn his gun, so he reached into the girlfriend's car and pulled out the gun so he could put it back in the house, meanwhile, several neighbors who heard the arguing came outside and saw the gun in my son's hand and heard the arguing, and must have called the police. My son took the gun into the house, and came back out, and him and his girlfriend continued to argue. The gun was never meant as a threat, nor was it ever pointed at anyone, nor was anyone ever threaten with it. He was just removing it from her car so she could not pawn it. There was absolutely no physical violence involved. She tried to explain everything to the police, but they only talked to her for two minutes. She thought he was being arrested for a domestic disturbance. He was arrested 2 weeks ago, and has not been indicted yet.

Has he hired a lawyer? He should. Has she filed an affidavit with the police? If she will, it would be helpful if she did, through his attorney.
