Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Theft over $1500.00 in Texas
I was charged with theft over 1500.00 in Texas. It was like $49.31 over the $1500.00 mark. Can Tax be assessed to that ? If not that would put the amount under $1500.00 making the charge a misdameanor correct ?

Once it is filed, it is filed. Now your attorney needs to review the prosecutor's file to determine how they arrived at the number. An attorney might be able to get the case reduced to a misdemeanor or dismissed.
