if I know that a person has a warrant, do I have any legal obligation to turn him in to the police

No, but you cannot assist him in avoiding the warrant. You cannnot lie to law enforcement if questioned. You can give him some good advice, which is to contact an attorney, and get the bond set up, and deal with the problem.
