it has been since sep 2, 2007 and i havent heard anything from gonzalez county about my first dwi offence. i just now got a letter in the mail saying i have a court date. i was in the army at the time injured in iraq, i had my license suspended and stayd 2 days in jail. do i need an attorney and what could they possibly do to me. i paid my bond and i paid to get my licence back. what do i do?

Yes, you do need an attorney. Even though your license was already suspended and you spent 2 days in jail, you are still facing DWI charges in the Gonzales County Court. The range of punishment for a DWI first is up to 180 days in the county jail and a $2,000.00 fine. If you are convicted of DWI you also face expensive surcharges against your driver's license for 3 years.
