Legal Question in DUI Law in Texas

filing for occupational license

I am just wondering if I am entitled to file for an occupational license by myself without the need of an attorney. Aren't there forms that I can file on my own to get a fair hearing? I got a DWI in August of 2004 and have lic. suspended until Nov 2006 b\c I refused to blow. I am proud to say that I have 18months of sobriety, will graduate 1\2007 with my assoc. in Sub. Abuse Coun.and currently am employed at a Tx. center here for my workstudy dealing with TTC clients and Tx. prob and parole clients. I am a fulltime student, single mother, partime assistant for LCDC's at POE, & mom of two and really need my license reinstated. Please let me know. Money is tight and I need some answers.

Thanks So much!!!

Re: filing for occupational license

Congratulations on your sobriety, and your stable life.

You can always represent yourself -- the problem arises when the situation is so complex that it requires an attorney trained and experienced with the legal issues.

Go to the county courthouse library. The librarian will not show you what to do, but they are often very helpful in guiding you in the right direction. Explain what you are looking for, and review the materials. You can then decide if you feel comfortable doing this on your own. Good luck.
