if a boyfriend has been staying in the home with me does he have a right to take every thing he and i bought to replace my old stuff?? which means he would leave my family with out a lot of furniture

Absent an agreement, the right to property belongs to the owner. If you are not married, then the property belongs to the person who purchased it. If he paid for it, it is his. If you paid for it, it is yours. If you both paid for it, you both own it.
If he left without the furniture, you can argue that he abandoned his ownership right to it.
If you are married, then property acquired during the marriage, other than by gift or inheritance, is community property. This gives you each one half of the property.
