Child choosing who they want to live with

How old does a child have to be to choose what parent he wants to live with?

Technically when the child becomes an adult at the age of 18 he/she can decide where he/she wants to live.

I assume that you are asking at what age a minor child can designate who he/she would like to live with. After the age of 12, the child can sign a statement stating their preference.

However, this preference is NOT binding on the Court of continuing jurisdiction.
