child support

can they come after me for back child support when the child is married and 27 yrs old(i have been helping him for years, but have not kept records after he turned 18

I believe that there is a 10 year statute of limitations on child support that was owed but was not paid.

If there was a judgment that you did not pay, then they can go back 10 years to collect. Assuming your son became 18 and was out of high school, then you could possibly owe for 1 year, between 17 and 18 years of age. If the money is owed to the State, then there is little chance they would come after you after all this time. If the support was owed to your ex, then since your boy is over 18, he would have to sue you for the year. If there was never a judgment, then you owe nothing.
