Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
child support and custody
My husband and I would like to get custody of his 18-month old son that he has with his ex-girlfriend. He has been giving her child support but now she is filing for it now that we're married. She lives with her other son's dad and has been for a long time, but is getting married to another man. What are our chances, if any, of getting custody of the child, and what all has to be done to get custody? I've searched the internet, but I can't find anything specific to our situation.

Re: child support and custody
It is not surprising that you have not been able to locate the information on the internet. Custody cases are very complex and expensive, because every case is different, and it is often necessary to re-invent the wheel each time. A consultation with an attorney will give you an idea of the type of proof that you will need to sustain a viable case. You will need an attorney to prepare and present your case.

Ms. Langford is correct; this is one of those matters you simply can't handle on your own. Get a good family law attorney.
