Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
No child support start or end date
In my final decree, it does not state the start or end date on the paying of child support. I have been paying what I can, but with the loss of my normal job, I cannot keep up with the amount, which I never agreed to or signed, in the final decree. I have filed a modification, but the judge will not render an answer until after my meeting with the Attorney General. I have paid over $15,000 in child support since the decree, 12/05/2002. I am supposed to be paying $2000. I was told of a case, exparte Acker, how do I find documentation about this case or other cases?

Re: No child support start or end date
Generally, child support payments are required until the child reaches the age of majority. Copies of case law can be obtained from a law library (e.g., at a law school) or try westlaw.com or lexisone.com. Call the support number at either service for help.
