Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Divorce Decree
I have a final Divorce Decree dated 2004 which was done by an attorney.
I never had the papers notarized or signed.
There is a file number assigned.
I now want to file the divorce.
How can I go about using the same file number?
How would I change the year and my husband's address is different.

Re: Divorce Decree
I agree with Ms. Bushman that the case has probably been dismissed after four years.
There is one other thing you should check also: It is possible that the decree was signed by a judge and you just never got a conformed (signed) copy. Go to the District Clerk in the county where the matter was filed and give them the cause number and ask what the disposition of the case was. They can pull the file and if the divorce was granted you can buy a conformed copy of the decree for your records.
Re: Divorce Decree
In all probability this case was dismissed long ago. You will have to start over from scratch.
