Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

In my divorce decree it states that I (the mother) must continue to carry health insurance (medicaid) on my two children. Why was the father not ordered to carry them on insurance? He lives in Nebraska and the kids and I live in Texas. The Texas medicaid will not cover them while they visit Nebraska (only tx & arkansas since i live in texarkana close to the state lines) if they need to see a doctor there. It also states that he is responsible for their expenses while with him, but in the insurance portion it states we must split the medical bills 50/50. Does this mean that if he takes them to the doctor while in Nebraska I must pay 50% even though he's responsible for them during that period of time? I'm not understanding. I thought he would be responsible for carrying them on insurance, not for them to remain on state medicaid. But then again, i know they will need some sort of coverage while visiting him in Nebraska just in case anything happens.

Under the language you mention, you would be 50% responsible for uncovered medical expenses including those that occur while they are visiting Dad.

Suggest you contact your divorce lawyer with this question. It may be necessary to file a motion to modify the decree to take care of this.
