Can a father get his custody of his child if he has a past record but he is stable now?

Possibly. It would depend upon the type of past record, the amount of time that has passed between then and now, what you mean by stable. Judges generally want to see a sustained period of time as a decent parent before considering a change to the child living environment. It would also depend upon the circumstances where the child is living now. An attorney in the father's area could review the facts of his case, and advise him.
