Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I have a friend that needs an answer to the following question.

Could there be alimony given to a married woman that is unemployed because she has cancer and has been given 15 to 24 months to live. She has been married for 20 years and her husband is now having an affair with the neighbor across the street and being very vocal about it. He is telling her he loves the neighbor and she should go home to West Virginia where her parents live. They live in the State of Texas. What should she do?

She needs to talk to an experienced family law attorney.

After 20 years there is probably some community property - she would be entitled to at least 50% - perhaps more.

Spousal support is a possibility too. Only after talking to an attorney in person can the attorney advise her about her options.

I hope this helps.

Look on this website & on www.avvo.com for an attorney to help.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend - I'm a 10 year breast cancer survivor.
