Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Grandparent oposing adoption

My unmarried daughter died 9/2000, leaving behind 17mth old son. Grandson's father received custody. Father married. Stepmother is adopting grandson. I oppose the adoption. The couple split after 11 months, lived apart 16 mths, reconcilled, living together 11 mths now. Moveed to Oregon. I have visitation rights (6wks summer, % days Dec, odd yr spring break)but since the ''mom'' is there I haven't been able to see grandson.(not safe for child to fly alone, School activities, summer activities etc.) Went to mediation, nothing resolved. Waiting for summer visitation but I'm sure I'll have another restraing order against me so I can't see him. Grandson has a trust fund from the accident and if the stepmom adopts him and then divorces, she can get custody of my grandson (which she is not related to him) and his trust fund. What can I do to protect my grandson's trust fund and stop her from getting custody of him if they divorce. Can I stop this adoption?

Re: Grandparent oposing adoption

It sounds as if this adoption is proceeding in an Oregon court. This is extremely complex, and it is urgent that you obtain legal counsel in Oregon.

This was forwarded to TX attorneys, and you may want to repost for the benefit of OR attorneys.

In Texas, a grandparent intervention is a difficult position to be in, and truly requires the skill of an experienced family attorney. It sounds as if time is of the essence in this matter.
