Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Is it possible for my husband to adopt another womans baby (that is not even his!) without my consent or knowledge other than his word? He says he wants a divorce when he gets home from Iraq, but no papers what so ever have been filed.

Wow! You've asked a new one! I've been practicing over 18 years and I've never had this question.
Technically, he can adopt without your knowledge.
There should be a court appointed attorney (usually known as the amicus attorney or attorney ad litem) to represent the baby's interests.
Normally that attorney would determine if the new daddy is married to someone else. However, your husband might ahve lied or the attorney did not know he was married.
Usually adoption records are "sealed". That means you can't look at them.
However, I would contact the county clerk in the county of the adoption and see if you can find out anything about the case.
You need to file for divorce asap.
Based on your zip code, you are NOT in Harris County. I suggest PATRICIA BUSHMAN at 713-807-9405 if you live close to Houston. Talk to Jessica in her office. Tell her that FRAN sent you.
Good luck!
