Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My husband and I have been married 2 years (together almost 4 years), and he's been here for my daughter since she was 3 years old. She hasn't been around her biological father since before she turned a year old. He has no interest in her and has no rights to her/cannot be anywhere near her or know of our location since the child support order has been in place. My husband and I (and of course my daughter who will be 7 years old later this month) would like for my husband to adopt her. We would like to do it without a lawyer for financial reasons and are trying to get some advice on how to start the petition to adopt, since the rights of the biological father have already been terminated. How do we go about getting this started? We live in Texas, by the way!

You shouldn't try to do this without a lawyer.

If the biological father's rights have been terminated, you need to file a petition for adoption. The Family Code requires that a social study be done.
