Legal name change or Adoption

I have a 10yr old almost 11 that was born with no father on birth certificate. His father has never seen him or accepts that he is his. My husband of 10yrs claims him as his own and my son is now wanting to change his name to my husbands. Will we have to do a legal name change or will my husband have to adopt him.

You should probably do a termination and step-parent adoption.

It should not be hard but since the father has had no contact with the child and obviously has not paid any child support.

However, there are many little hurdles to be overcome and you need someone that knows how to help you just those hurdles.
