Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I do not have any money to obtain a lawyer can I file for sole custody of my child by myself? His father has been incarcerated since I was 5 months pregnant. I fear the worst when he gets out. I have been told that it is considered abandonment but I am not sure how I go about getting full custody without retaining a lawyer that I cannot afford.

You should do this with a lawyer. Try contacting the local battered women's shelter or legal aid society or bar association. They should be able to point you in the right direction for aid.

Based on your zip code you live close to Houston.

You really need an attorney to help you. I charge $500 for my DIY kit. Then there is a filing fee unless you qualify for a pauper's or waiver of filing fees. I also sell the paperwork for the pauper's affidavit for $25. My DO IT YOURSELF KIT is designed specifically for you.
