Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Can I send my mom to jail if she doesn't give me any child support money? All she does is spend it on drugs. I have other people taking care of me.I am 17 and need money but she wont give me any all she does is lie and do drugs she wont give up custody of because she wants the money. She came to our house and called and got a new card sent to our house annd she changed the addres to our house but when we gt the card annd tried to activate it she got mad and cancled the card but now she is saying that we changed the address without her permission but we didn't she was the one who called. What can I do? Do I nneed a lawyer to get custody switched over ?

No you cannot send your mother to jail since the child support is not for you. The money is for your mother and it is designated for supporting you, the minor child. At 17, you are still considered a minor child.

I truly don't understand what you are referring to about "the card".

I assume that she cannot remember what she is doing & she is just mad -- it happens.

If you want, you can ask an adult to switch custody.

Hopefully, you will turn 18 soon and be an adult under Texas law and the child support will stop.
