Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

texas spousal maintenance

I took early retirement from my job of 21 years after the birth of our child. I was a stay-at-home mom for over 10 years then got a (part-time) job. Husband left 2 years ago & took his income & lives with his parents. What are my chances of getting spousal maintenance until I find a full time job. I am 52 and left a job in 1995 that paid $29,000. He makes $72,000.

Re: texas spousal maintenance

If you are still married, you need to file for divorce and ask for temporary orders.

If you have been married over 10 years, you might get spousal support for up to 3 years.

Of course, you might also be entitled to more than 50% of the community estate.

You desperately need to talk to an attorney that does a lot of family law in your area to see what the Judges do in your county.
