Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

wife asked for trial seperation. Moved out 14 Jan, says she needs to figure out where she wants to be in life. We have two kids, 12 and 7. Both are more comfortable in the house that we lived in as a family. Wife has always worked except for approximately 5 years. She could not afford the house and didnt want to deal with the pool. We divided all the assets in the house evenly and she now has her own bank account. Currently i am paying her utilities and car insurance. We are not sure if this will lead to a divorce but i want to know what my options are if it does. I am military and she says she doesnt want my retirement if it leads to divorce. Should i be paying anything for her? The kids are joint and we have agreed to each buy them what ever they need.

I suggest that you sit down with an experienced family law attorney in person and talk.

I think knowledge is power.

I really don't know your situation - I think that spending a couple of hundred dollars will be well worth your time and effort. You need to know current Texas law and get to know how the Judges in your county think about divorce and separation.

You need to be thinking about divorce. You are in the military - preparation and planning is everything!
