Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Animal Control

we have a neighbor with a pit bull dog and four puppies, among other dogs. these dogs are a general nuisance, to the extent the local Animal Control has been called. The neighbor did put up a fence of sorts to enclose the pups and tied up the rest. our problem is, he is gone most of the time (often for days on end) and of course the dogs get hungry and get loose in search of food. I would like to contact animal control myself, but am told that since I have several cats I am in jeopardy of getting into trouble. we live in the country and my cats pretty well stay on our own property; I have never received any indication of any complaint against them. can I report these nuisance dogs without incurring problems on our part?

Re: Animal Control

Check to see if there's a "leash law" for cats in your county. If not, you can call animal control if the dogs are running loose.

If there is, you'd be best off corraling your cats before calling.
