Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Customer stops payment on check after release of lien.

After having completed my customer's project, they issued me a check for $8950.00, and I gave them a release of lien. The next day thier attorney called to say that they had stopped payment on the check. They are asking for things to be done which were not in the contract. How can this be fair? My small company can not take a financial "hit" like this. Also the release of lien is now incorrec as they have not been released of the full amount as shown on the lien. Could I issue a new lien for the amount of the stopped check? Thank you for your time.

If you are still within the time period, you may file a new lien for the amount you are owed.
