Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Dentist charged for unauthorized work!

My son was told he needed 4 adult teeth filled next thing I know

I got an invoice in the mail for $1,100!!

I phoned and asked for them to explain I was told they filled some baby teeth, I NEVER SAID THEY COULD FILL THEM NOR DOES MY SON REMEMBER THEM DOING SO

I tried several times to explain that I would not pay the remainder of $250 that my insurance did not cover, I called and wrote to them several times, they ignored me.

Now they have reported us to a collection agency and it's now on our record.

At school recenty the nephew of the dentist went to my son and told him that his uncle said he could no longer assoicate with him since his parents do not pay thier bills.

What are my rights regarding this?

Thank you for any response.

Re: Dentist charged for unauthorized work!

If the dentist has no authorization on file for the work performed, you could sue him in small claims court for the entire amount. If other persons heard the announcement that you did not pay your bills, you could possible sue for defamation. The statute of limitations on defamation is 1 year.
