Is it legal to tape a conversation between yourself and another person without the other person's knowledge, and is it admisable in a court of law?

In Texas it is legal to tape the conversation if you are a part of the conversation.

As to admissibility, it depends: A conversation with a party to a lawsuit can be used against that party. A conversation with a third party (such as a non-party witness) may be used only to impeach that witness if they have testified differently. And then there may be weird exceptions to those rules --
