Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
I was adopted in mexico by my aunt and my uncle which now i consider parents who are US Citizens. anyway i am a permanent resident since then i am now 22 years old with no criminal record, married for 3 years with a 4 year odl daughter. i was adopted and brought here since infant.
My parents applied so i can my citizenship but got denied becuase they needed proof from my adoption and they adviced her that wait till i turn 18 and do my naturlization papers. n-400
So i did my n-400 and went to get that done and got denied. didnt even get an exam or nothing just went to an office saying that they made an error and have to go back and re-do my permanent resident card and then reapply for the n-400.
Is this correct? Should i get a lawyer? Should i get my money back since it was their mistake? I have a letter where they say it is their fault.

If your adoptive parents naturalized while you were under 18 and living in their custody, then you might be already a USA citizen, and can apply for a Certificate of Naturalization, N-600, instead of application for naturalization.
Yes, you should at least consult an experienced immigration attorney (not a 'notario').
