Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

I am a US citizen and I would like to apply for my parents for green card. I want to know how long they have to stay in the United States to get the green card. They will go back once they have the green card as they are not planning to move here permanently.

Secondly, how often and for how long they have to come to US and stay in order to maintain their green cards. Basically, I want them to have a green card so they can easily come to US. Please advice.

Thanks,

Mubeen

Mubeen,

If you wish to schedule a consultation, please let me know. Briefly, they can apply at the US consulate in their home country. That's the preferred and the most proper way to apply for immigrant visas (green cards).

If they are lawfully in the USA, they might be able to apply for adjustment of status.

As permanent residents, they'll be required to establish residence in the United States, pay taxes every year to IRS, etc. They should not stay abroad for longer than 6 months, and never longer than 1 year, except if they have a valid re-entry permit.
