Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

I am a US citizen, and I would like to petition for my father in Colombia. I am 21 years old, and he has never been here. How long does this process take and what does it involve? Also, if he has children over there does that affect anything? Thank you.

A US citizen child domiciled in the United States and over 21 years of age can petition for his parents. The beginning of the process is filing of the I-130 petition with the USCIS, plus all supporting documents. The whole process can take up to a year, provided that your father is eligible for an immigrant visa based on your petition. Him having other children doesn't affect anything, as he won't be able to bring with him his other children, nor his wife, if any.
