Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

hi. i was in a car wreck abt 6 months ago and i was on my dads insurance but in MY vehicle (which was in my name). well, the insurance company gave me a check for (EST) $9,000.00 it was made out to me and my dad. i asked him about it the other day and he refuses to speak to me. so i called the insurance company and they said that a check had been issued a very long time ago. i have now found out her forged my signature on that check. what can i do? (im a texas resident)

First, call your bank. Tell them that he forged your signature and that you want them to take action. They have an entire department to handle matters like this. Second, call the insurance company and explain it to them. Tell them you've never been paid and you want your money. In the end, you may have to file suit against your dad in Small Claims (JP) Court. Good luck. I know family disputes are the worst and are tough on everybody. But right is right and wrong is wrong, so do what you need to do.
