Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas
loss of insurance
My company recently cancelled my insurance because my hours went down from 30(required) to 26 hrs. I was instructed by a licensed therapist that I should work less due to the sudden death of my younger brother. I appealed their decision and was denied because
I did not notify them. My manager was aware of the situation. They offered me the parttime insurance package but I feel I need the fulltime coverage. Is this legal? I didnt know I had to notify the company as this wasnt the most pleasant situation for me to deal with. I have worked for this company that claims to be good to its employees for 5 yrs, but feel I have been denied proper coverage because of a hindsight that really wasn't on my mind. I am working more hours to bring my average hours up but it will take time to do that. Not to mention that they will not let me work overtime to catch back up.

Re: loss of insurance
Unless you have a contract...employers are not required to do more than pay what was promised...so you are bound to the offer they made and their rules...and they can fire people with or without cause..as employees can quit with or without cause..
