Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas
Longhorn in Longhorn Country
Hello,
I am starting a moving service specifically for students who attend The University of Texas at Austin. I want to call my business ''Longhorn Relocation.'' Today I recieved a letter from UT counsel telling me to cease and desist because only they can use the word longhorn when marketing to students for anything.
Is UT correct or are they just trying to scare me away. Everyone uses ''Longhorn'' for services for students in Austin. I don't see why I can't either.

If you dig, you'll probably find that you have to license the use of the word, "Longhorn" in relation to selling services to the students. Write back to counsel and ask them what you have to do in order to license the use.
