Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas
can I get in trouble for copying a website? A friend of mine created a website very similar to another companies site. The owner of the other company contacted me and mentioned taking legal action. We closed the site hours after talking to the owner of the other site. Is there anything that he can legally do in this case?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. If you infringed on the copyright or other intellectual property rights of someone else, you can be sued. Closing the site right away may mitigate (reduce) the amount of damages, but you can't un-ring the bell. You can still be liable for damages nonetheless. Consult with a good intellectual property or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
