Re: diversity jurisdiction
A case where the parties are of diverse citizenship and over $75,000 is in dispute can be heard in federal court, but state courts can hear them as well. If there is a basis for federal diversity jurisdiction and a party is sued in state court, the defendant can remove the case to federal court if it is sued in a state of which it is not a citizen. If sued in its home state, it can only remove the case if there is federal question jurisdiction.
