Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
Credit Card Charges, Vacation Pay, Negative Reporting
I was issued a credit card by my employer. I was fired because I put some personal charges on the card, along with company related expenses. They want me to pay the total of these personal charges or they will file charges on me. To reimburse them these charges, I suggested they apply those charges to $6300.00 of vacation pay that they have not reimbursed me for, and toward an escrow account in exceess of $10,000.00 they are holding in my name. This account was set up because I agreed to take a 20% cut in pay over a year ago, and they agreed to reimbursement me when they were financially able. They will not communicate whether they are willing to do this or not. What should I do? Can I be prosecuted for this?
Several people have reported to me that they called the office and were told that I was fired for embezzlement, and theft. This is making it very difficult for me to obtain employment. Is this legal?

Re: Credit Card Charges, Vacation Pay, Negative Reporting
You should speak with an attorney about this. They should not be making any negative comments regarding why you left.
