Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
An individuals right to their legal name
My legal middle name is the same as the company I work for. Recently two disgruntle associates have convinced management that I should not be able to use my name. Because I am in sales it was easier for clients to remember my name and associate it with the company. I never represented myself as an owner, or officer of the company. I just stated that my name and the companys' is the same. Can they legally bar me from using my legal name?

Re: An individuals right to their legal name
They cannot legally "bar" you from using your middle name, but can ask you to stop doing so if they believe it is confusing or misleading, or for any other reason whatsoever. Similarly, you can be terminated for any reason whatsoever, or for no reason, so I think the prudent course is to follow your employer's wishes.
