Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

i have a lawsuit pending from an injury i incurred over a year ago. All my medical was paid through a county hospital because i applied for assistance and recieved full benefits based on my income and not being insured prior to injury. I was told that the establishment had to pay these medical bills back to the state even though i didnt have to pay out of my pocket. So that means the medical bills had to be reversed and now i will have these medical bills pending against me. My question is, what if i dont win my case and dont recieve any money. Am i still responsible for these medical bills if based on my income they were all paid for prior to the reversal ?

This would depend on why the county must reimburse the state.

My understanding is that if no medical bills were pending, you would not be able to include them as damages if you did win. However, if the bills were pending, you would be able to include them as damages.

Suggest you contact your attorney to find out what is going on.
