Liability of land owner
If I sublease my property and the leasee's animal hurts someone, can I be liable?

Possibly. For example if you knew the tenant had a dangerous animal, then you might face liability. Also you might be potentially liable if the lease prohibited pets and you knew the tenant was keeping a pet.

Without knowing all details, it is most likely that a claim could be made against you BUT you could designate the sublessee as responsible, seek indemnity from him/her (i.e. look to the sublessee to be held responsible for all damages which you were required to pay or charged with) etc and require the sublessee to pay. You need to look at your sublease agreement for provisions re: indemnity.
