Non Refundable downpayment for a wedding facility
My daughter lives in Dallas and decided to have her wedding this September 24,2005 at a facility within the Dallas area. She was told she had to give a $2000.00 deposit on a $9000.00 minimum wedding. She used my credit/debit card to pay the $2000.00 since I live in Houston. She did this on January 15th of this year. It is now March 1st and she and her fiance have broken up. The facility refused to refund the deposit saying it was ''non-refundable''. Since the facility was booked on every date, there is a good chance they will book her date quite readily. I don't understand how they can keep so much money without having ever done anything for it and since they will probably fill that date up shortly.
Do I have any recourse to get that money back?

Re: Non Refundable downpayment for a wedding facility
if the contract clearly indicated that the deposit was non-refundable, i do not think you can legally force the facility to return the money. sorry for this, as a father of a bride to be i worry about exactly what you have experienced. bill featherston
