Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Property- right of way

We have 14 acres of farm property which is surrounded by acreage which once belonged to our family. Our father did not sell his share thus leaving us property that we do not have access to. We are in contact with the present owner and his lawyer says his client does not have the obligation to allow us access to our property over his land. Is this legal as I have always read that one could always have axcess to their property or do we have to hire a lawyer?

Re: Property- right of way

Your situation is a little complicated and I cannot provide a simple answer on Law Guru. I would need to look at exactly where the location of the roads or access points are, the location and ownership of neighboring properties, and history of the transactions to give a correct answer. You are welcomed to email me and we can set up a complimentary initial consultation which would better enable you to make a decision.
