Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

not my vehicle, but got a ticket for no state inspection

I was drving my girlfriend from Aurora, CO to Corpus Christi, TX and Lafayette, LA for christmas in her vehicle due to her having a broken leg and not being able to drive. We left on dec 19th and got to corpus on the 20th. Her vehicle registration (she is military and keeps her residence in Corpus, where her parents live) had expired while she was in the hospital from breaking her leg, so she renewed it at the courthouse on the 21st, then we left for louisiana. We stayed in LA for xmas, then drove back through texas to go home to CO. That day we got pulled over in Brady, TX for not having a state vehicle inspection. She was told by someone in the military that she didnt have to have a state inspection since she did not physically live in texas, and she told this to the cop, but he still gave ME, the ticket. I have no idea about state inspections laws, i hold a Maryland liscense. Am I actually liable to pay this ticket?

The driver of the car is the one held responsible. There is reciprocity with states that have inspection laws -- if this is one, then you may be able to get it dismissed. If not, then there are several options in which you can avoid having the ticket on your record (although it is not a moving violation). You have to act within 10 days of getting the ticket to avoid a warrant. TCL
