Abandoned Life Estate

My step mother was granted a life estate last yr in all, not 1/3 of 199 acres (rural) and left the premises 7-3-06 shuting off light and cable (verified) the home had rotten food in fridge. Our attorney says it's not abandoned she has moved to another town, what is abandoned. How do we recover my father's home?

The court needs to issue an order that says it is abandoned. You should contact an attorney who can be of assistance.
