Husband's rights after death of wife
My father married a woman 16 years ago, sold his home and moved into hers - they both traveled and purchased several big items with the proceeds from his home along with improvements purchased for her home. Her home had been hers and her deceased husbands. Now she has died and evidently had signed an heirship deed in 2003 naming her daughters as heirs to her property. What are his rights now? She died without any will, and while his name is on checks that paid property taxes over the years, and of course on all utilities, it is not on the property deed. Can he be kicked out of the home? I ask because I know her daughters will do that if they can as they want to sell the home and take the money & run.

Your father retains a life estate interest in the homestead property. Any efforts to remove him would be expensive and futile. The ugly step sisters will have to wait for your father to meet their mother again.
