Sir/Mam,

I have gotten this letter in an email and want to know if this is on the ''up and up''. You can read the letter, as it follows.

I WANT YOU TO STAND AS THE NEXT OF KIN

I am Barrister Clement Ibe and also the Personal Attorney

to Mr. MORRIS THOMPSON a national of your country. Few years ago my client with his entire family was in the plane crash on February 4th, 2000 board Alaska Airlines Flight 261. Alongside other 87 passengers. I have made several enquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful.I have contacted you on trust to assist me in receiving the money left behind by my client before the bank he has an account with get the money confiscated or declared his money as unclaimed fund following the bank policy. Particularly, the Bank where the deceased had an account valued at about 20.5 million dollars has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin of my client or have the account confiscated within the nextI seek your consent to present you as the next of kin to the deceased so that the transfer of this money valued at $20.5 million dollars can be paid to you as his next kin.

Do a Google search of the Nigerian 4 1 9 scam. This stinks of one of those scams.

It is a scam. If you go along with it, they'll clean out your account and you'll be left with nothing.
